In this WIRED piece they talked "to Joseph and John Kappenman, CEO of electromagnetic damage consulting company MetaTech about the possibility of geomagnetic apocalypse — and how to stop it."
Apparently it could be more than coincidence that the Mayans predict the apocalypse and there will be maxium Sun turbulence at the same time. Read the piece from this link.
